HISTORY

The story is this: New Orleans is a city with an enormous musical heritage, and Rosy's occupies a special place in this history. In the middle to late 70's, the property at 500 Valence, which had been a residence and grocery and bar at various times in it's past, was purchased by Rosy Wilson for the purpose of bringing jazz uptown. Following a complete renovation it opened as a jazz club without equal, and in the next few years was host to the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Stevie Wonder and many others. It closed in the mid-80's, opened briefly as a sports bar in the early 90's, and had remained empty and unused since then. The building was purchased in March of 1998, and following a complete renovation has reopened as a premiere catering and events venue.
